About CUFA BC
The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia (CUFA BC) was established in 1971. We serve as a central hub for raising and addressing issues impacting our faculty association members.
What we do
Identify and investigate issues
We hold our finger on the pulse of emerging and systemic problems — including threats to academic rights, funding issues, academic labour relations, and common issues at the bargaining table.
Unify and amplify faculty voices
We advocate for our members’ interests to the provincial government and work closely with employer groups and allied organizations. We publish timely analysis, participate in government consultations, and present at local, provincial, and national levels.
Build support for post-secondary education
We raise public awareness of faculty rights to academic freedom and collegial governance. We also promote the value of university research to the wider community through our annual awards series and publications.
Inform and empower our members
We keep faculty well-connected and in the loop. Our members benefit from our workshops, meetings, and provincial and national-level networking. We also offer open access publications and a weekly newsletter.
Our board and staff
Our structure and governance
CUFA BC is governed by constitutional bylaws, policies, and a Council and Executive Committee with support from committees and working groups. Our member associations are autonomous unions who have voluntary membership with us.
