The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of BC (CUFA BC) announces its call for nominations to the 2021 Distinguished Academics Awards! Nominations close April 1, 2021 with an awards ceremony to take place in fall 2021.
The Distinguished Academics Awards highlight the vital contributions our faculty make to the community through their research or scholarly activity. The awards specifically recognize faculty for research or scholarly activity that is of importance to the public beyond the academy.
We have increased the cash value of the awards to $2,000 each starting in 2021. We understand that in many ways, there isn’t enough money to award everyone who deserves it–and there are so many deserving faculty members–but we are grateful to be able to increase the award value now and for years to come.
Due to the rescheduling of the 2020 awards ceremony, which will now take place online in the spring time, we will be holding an awards ceremony for our 2021 winners in the fall. The date of the event is yet to be determined, as will the possibility of this event being held in person or virtually. We will continue to monitor the developments of COVID-19 and follow the advice of our provincial health officer when it comes to gathering in person.
In the meantime, if you know of a deserving faculty member, encourage them to apply. Help spread the word by circulating the award information with your colleagues.
