The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia (CUFA BC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Conlon as its new Executive Director.
Dr. Conlon previously served as the Executive Director of the Association for Administrative and Professional Staff (AAPS) at the University of British Columbia. His employment experience in areas associated with post-secondary education includes professional work in the area of policy and government relations with the Canadian Association of University Teachers in Ottawa, as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities in Ontario, and as the National Director of Research for the Canadian Federation of Students. He also has had over 5 years of experience as a part-time university teacher in the field of English.
The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia represents over 4,600 professors, lecturers, instructors, librarians, and other academic staff at the five research intensive universities in British Columbia: the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, the University of Northern British Columbia, Royal Roads University and the University of Victoria. The Confederation has been in existence for over 40 years and works closely with member Faculty Associations at each institution.
Dr. Conlon’s appointment with CUFA BC will start on December 1. He will be working closely with the Association’s President, Executive, and Council to develop a strategic vision for the organization’s future and to maintain and strengthen relationships with other membership organizations in British Columbia, in other provinces, and across Canada.
