Collegial governance and academic freedom are the defining principles of modern research universities. The following research charts the growing tension between the principles of collegial governance and academic freedom and the increasing encroachment of governments and Boards of Governors on the academic operation of universities.
In March 2012, CUFA BC gathered members, academics, and other stakeholders to meet in Vancouver and discuss issues of academic governance. In addition to our generative discussions, CUFA BC created a publication of essays on the topic, edited by then President Dr. Richard Kool.
